Duct
Detectors
The Duct detector samples air
currents passing through a duct and gives dependable performance for management fans,
blowers, and air-conditioning systems, preventing the spread of toxic smoke and fire gases
through the protected area. Duct detectors are not a substitute for an open-area smoke
detector, an early warning detection, or a building's regular fire detection system.
Beam
Detectors
Beam detectors are ideal to meet
the unique fire protection challenge of atriums and other open
areas with high ceilings. A beam detector is particularly well
suited for use in ballrooms, churches, warehouses, museums,
factories where conventional smoke detectors cannot be easily
installed. It has a receiver and transmitter that can be powered
separately. The projected "beam" detects a reduction
in the signal, working well with smoke and fast-flame fires.
Sensitivity is selectable between 30% or 55% Total Obscuration.

Rate
Compensated Detectors
The rate-anticipation detectors respond and activate the
fire alarm immediately whenever the ambient temperature reaches the preset temperature
setting. Under rapid heat rise conditions, the rate-anticipation feature enables the
detector to respond one to three degrees ahead of the setting. At the same time however,
it does not respond to momentary temperature fluctuations below the selected protection
level, thus eliminating false alarms. When temperature drops back down below the
protection level, the detector automatically resets itself.
Rate of Rise
Detectors
The rate-of-rise is ideal for areas in which a smoke
detector is not practical. Independent studies show that heat detectors should be used
when property protection alone is involved. The rate-of-rise detector activates when the
ambient temperature increases at a rate greater than 15 degrees F (9.4 degrees C) per
minute.
